shortcut : Ctrl + O

You can view and display the content of any archive file. This function allows you to restore one or more files, together with any particular folder, with or without subfolders. If a viewer is associated with the file type, Backup2005 Pro lets you to open and view it.

This function is independent from the active Backup set.
So you can open an archive file even if the backup set definition is no longer available.
 
 
The aspect of the open dialog box is dependant on your Windows version, (here Windows XP).

Select the file to display. If the file has been protected with an external AES encryption key you will prompted to provide the password.

 
The file is displayed in a tree view mode, like Windows Explorer.
The viewer function is designed to open a zip file built by Backup2005 Pro. This means that the drive designation is included in the in the data file description. Normal zip files or those generated by the Extract drive from file function can't be viewed here.
The file can also be displayed without the tree. Files are displayed in a single list (see View)

To close the View function click the Back button on the tool bar or press the ESC key.
A popup menu is available from the right mouse button.

·Restore to the original location will restore the selected folder to it original location.  
·If you want to restore this folder to a different location, select the Restore to... menu item. You will be given a folder browser dialog box.  
·If you want to restore the selected folder including subfolders, select one of the Restore with subfolders items.  
·If the file is password protected first select the Set password item to provide it. If you don't provide a password you will be prompted each time you try to open an archived file.  
·if you wish to locate quickly one or more files click the Search menu item.  
·If a comment has been added to the archive file, the Get archive comment item is available.  
·You can get general information about the current archive file if you select Archive information.

You can restore one or more files from the file list view.
First select the file. The list supports multi selection, as your Windows Explorer does.

You can access the Search function from this menu.

With the Select all (Ctrl+A) function you can mark for selection the entire file list and unselect all with Ctrl+U or Unselect all menu item.


If the file is password protected first select the Set password item to provide it.

You can view any file from the archive file, if the file type is associated with an application or a viewer (by Windows), simply double click over the file name.
